Having thoroughly discussed our take on what evangelism is previously, we’ll spend this week talking about good news. If evangelism means “spreading the good news”, then what is this good news? We are going to talk about gospel (good news) through the movie, Silence (so please watch it if you can before Sunday), and how good news can distort and take on entirely different meanings given the circumstance.
If you do watch the movie, do so with these questions in mind:
- What would good news look like for the people of Japan, Christian and otherwise?
- What would good news look like for the two priests, Rodrigues and Garupe?
- What would good news look like for the Japanese political powers?
- What would good news look like for the Catholic church?
*Note: Community discussion is not included. If you would like to hear the discussion, we welcome you to join us Sunday at 5:10 PM.
