We believe that children are full and active participants in our faith community. They are welcome at all events, all worship gatherings, and all community gatherings. We believe that God has called us to make room for one another, and we are committed to having children in our midst. Because of that, we always welcome children to attend the worship gathering in its entirety. We are not bothered by ordinary noises and disruptions.
However, we realize that sometimes you need space to worship without them, so you may choose to allow them to participate in our children’s program. Because we feel it is important for children to be part of what we do communally each Sunday, children remain with parents during the music. This is often a highlight for children, as they get to dance! Afterward one of our teachers will escort the children to their room, where they will listen to Bible stories, play, and create art.
We create our curriculum with the awareness that children are wise in ways that we have forgotten. Jesus said that we must become like little children to enter into his kingdom, and we come ready to learn from the ways our children understand God. Our hope is to teach children how to see where God is at work in their lives and in the world around them, and to recognize the part they play in the continuing story of God’s work in the world.
Journey is committed to providing a loving, safe place for your child. We require all our volunteers to undergo a criminal background check and to be committed members of Journey for at least 6 months.
